SCHOOL TERM DATES & HOLIDAYS 2020-2021

The genesis Combined school year is divided into four terms.

The School close for four-term breaks and all gazetted holidays, teacher-only days, Saturdays, and Sundays. The school can also close in an emergency. A student may take off in extremely hot weather (upon the discretion of parents).

Teacher-only days: Our staff is the most valuable resource in our school. To ensure they have the opportunity to develop and learn, the school schedule teacher-only days. These days (also known as school development days or pupil-free days) are days when teachers, school leaders, and support staff can hone and improve their skills. Children do not attend school on these days.

While three days are scheduled over the New Year break, an additional three days are scheduled throughout the school year.

Assessments: The school conducts Formative Assessments around the year however Summative Assessments will be held from 1^st to 17^th of April each year.

* The school will remain open during these days for OOSHC, excursions, and field trips. Participation is not mandatory and parents may plan vacations or trips during this period.

** timings for OOSHC from 1^st Ramadan till 20^th Ramadan will be 4 pm sharp (no exception)    ***Some parents have children attending different schools with different start and finish dates. Parents are required to consult with the schools to align their dates where possible to minimize disruption to families (Our rolling admission policy coupled with our organized system allows us to do so without compromising the academics of your child).

Note-where a school closure is mandatory by concern authorities, gcs may remain open for before and after school care or to organize vacations care/ summer and winter camp.
