Genesis Combined School enrolls new students throughout the school year. The School has a policy of open admission, accepting all applicants who have the capacity for full participation in the school’s program. subject to availability of the slot
Subject to the conditions below, admission is non-discriminatory and open to all students without regard to race, sex, religion, physical ability, national or ethnic origin.
Admission and continued enrollment in genesis Combined School are determined by the school Director based on the recommendation of the Principal/program coordinator.
All recommendations by the Principal are based upon the following criteria:
- The applicant’s potential to benefit from genesis Combined School’s educational program, which is based on the Australian Curriculum.
- The ability of the school to meet the educational needs of the applicant;
- The ability of the applicant to meet the academic, attendance, and behavioral expectations of the school;
- Fulfillment of the school’s financial and medical requirements.
For students who do not meet School admission requirements, exceptions to the policies may be made by the school Director in the following circumstances:
- Scholarship students.
- Siblings of current Generic.
- Former Genesis combined school’s students.
When it is not possible to accommodate all qualified applicants, the following admissions priorities will apply:
- In-Zone students
- Siblings of currently enrolled students;
- Returning students who are currently enrolled
A waiting pool of applications will be created if a class is full. Genesis Combined School will draw from this pool based on these priority guidelines and review all applications to determine those students we feel can best benefit from genesis Combined School education.
Entrance Age
Verification of age (passport or certified birth certificate) is required for all students entering genesis Combined School. Subsequent promotion or non-promotion is the sole determination of the Director in consultation with the section Principal. The following guidelines are used in determining year placement.
- Early Childhood (pre-k) ages 2 to 3
- Â A student must be 2 to 3 years old on or before April 1st
- Kindergarten

- Pre-school (Transition)Â Â Â A student must be five years old on or before April 1st
- Year1
- Â A student must be six years old on or before April 1st: a student who meets the Year 1 age requirement but has had no previous schooling may be placed in Kindergarten. Any student who has been home-schooled after KG will be tested to determine placement. It is possible that, following testing, the student will be placed in the year below / above their age-appropriate level.
- Year 2-6
- Â Students are placed in a grade compatible with their age or successful completion of the preceding Years.
- Year 6-8
- Â Year placement is determined by evaluating a combination of 1-Previous school records, teacher recommendations, and information from parents. The school understands that in particular, exceptional circumstances, teacher recommendations may not be available. In these instances, a meeting with the section Principal / Director is required before the admission recommendation being made. English Language Proficiency
For students in Early Childhood 2 to 4, Kindergarten, and Year 1 through 5, English proficiency is preferred but not required for admission. Upon admission, however, assessing the student’s English language proficiency will be completed and programs prescribed as necessary. In addition, all students applying for Year 6-8 will be assessed for their English proficiency. Depending on the assessment results, a student may be required to enroll in one or more of the School’s English Language courses and placed at a different year level than the one they applied.
