  1. Purpose The intent of this Policy is to provide clarity, consistency, and transparency with respect to admission requirements and processes for all applicants to the genesis combined school.

  • The school will assess all applications so that all decisions relating to student admission are consistent and based on published entry requirements, and that throughout the admission process applicants are treated courteously and expeditiously.

  1. Before you begin

Placement at genesis Combined School is primarily based on a child’s residential address.

The following information is about suitable evidence you will need to provide as proof of residence.

If you own your home
    • recent gas or electricity bill for that property.
If you rent a home
    • rental agreement, and
    • recent gas or electricity bill for that property.

If your child is living with a relative or friend, you will need to provide supporting documentation stating that the relative/friend is the legal guardian of the child.

The principal is responsible for determining whether proof of residence has been satisfied and may use professional judgment in circumstances where families are not able to meet these requirements.

  1. School zone

A school zone is a defined area surrounding our school (within a radius of 5 Km) from which our school accepts its core intake of students.

At genesis combined school we have a bar on maximum numbers of students and to avoid enrollment pressure preference will be given to in-zone families.

  1. When to enroll

genesis combined school start taking enrollments towards the end of the year before your child is starting school. Interested families are requested to contact the school office to inquire about the enrollment time frame.

Parents residing within the school zone can transfer their child from any other school to genesis combined schools at any time during the year, we will try our best to accommodate the request. Transfer inquiries should be made directly with the school.

  1. How to enroll at genesis Combined School

Once a vacancy is offered, schools will ask parents and students to attend a pre-enrolment interview with a member of the school leadership.

During the pre-enrollment interview, a staff member can help you to complete the school enrollment form and answer any questions.

  1. What you will need to bring

For your application to proceed you must provide the school with proof of the child’s identity and date of birth such as:

  • Birth certificate/ passport
  • Proof of the child’s residential address
  • Copies of any family law or other relevant court orders, if applicable

It is the responsibility of the parents to verify that the information provided is true and factual.

When you have provided all the required evidence, the enrollment application may be finalized.

You may be asked about:

  • Your child’s interests
  • Emergency contact numbers
  • Custody and family dispute issues or court orders
  • Immunization records, medical information, and health care needs
  • Friends already attending the school or starting at the same time.

The information you give about your child and family is kept confidential and used when necessary in the best interests of your child.

When your child is enrolled, the school will give you an information package covering topics such as:

  • Health and safety (available online)
  • Policies (available online)
  • curriculum
  • School timings
  • Canteen price list
  • Out of school hours care (OSHC)
  • The role and obligations of volunteers in schools
  • General school procedures.

There may be other information sessions and transition days.
